Fantastic Gemstones

The French intellectual Roger Caillois (1913-1978) collected gemstones and wrote about them in a book titled "La Lecture Des Pierres" (The Lecture of Gems).

Caillois describes his passion for gemstones through a unique philosophical approach of spiritualism, science and aesthetics. Therefore you can imagine the selections he made compiling such a personal and unique collection that he called:

"paintings of nature".
